JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Edward Cabrera struck out 10 in 6.0 innings of one-hit ball and Peyton Burdick homered to lead the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp to an 8-0 win in Saturday night's contest against the Norfolk Tides in front of 5,137 fans at 121 Financial Ballpark.

Cabrera (2-0) went 6.0 innings, striking out 10, allowing no runs on only one hit. Enmanuel De Jesus worked the final 3.0 innings to earn his first save since September 4, 2021 and secure the club's second shutout of the season. Prior to this run, the Jumbo Shrimp (54-57, 23-15) had never won eight games in a row; the last time the franchise did so was from August 22-September 1, 2014, when the Jacksonville Suns won the final 10 games of the season.

Jacksonville got out to an early lead in the bottom of the first. With one out, Garrett Hampson ripped a double. In the ensuing at-bat, Dane Myers knocked a double of his own off Norfolk (68-44, 20-18) starter Bruce Zimmermann (3-5) to score Hampson. Troy Johnston then singled to plate Myers, giving the Jumbo Shrimp a 2-0 advantage.

Jacksonville tacked on a run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Jerar Encarnacion walked to lead off the frame. After a pair of outs, an Xavier Edwards single coupled with a throwing error brought home Encarnacion.

The Jumbo Shrimp blew it open in the home half of the fifth. Myers led off the inning with a base knock and Johnston followed with a walk. Burdick (23) then clocked a three-run shot to put Jacksonville up 6-0.

Jacksonville's hot bats continued in the bottom of the sixth inning. Edwards opened up the inning with a walk, and one out later, Myers was hit by a pitch. After another out, Peyton Burdick was also hit by a pitch to load the bases. Jordan Groshans then ripped a base knock to score Edwards and Myers, putting the Jumbo Shrimp ahead 8-0.

Jacksonville vies for the sweep in Sunday's 3:05 p.m. first pitch against Norfolk. LHP Devin Smeltzer (4-6, 5.95 ERA) gets the nod for the Jumbo Shrimp, and RHP Austin Voth (0-0, 4.91 ERA) starts for the Tides. Coverage begins at 2:50 p.m. on Bally Live, MiLB.tv., ESPN 690, and espn690.com.

On a Forever Vets Canines and Crustaceans Dog Day, dogs get in free as long as their human companion purchases a tickets. A Baptist Health Sunday Family FUNday means fans can enjoy a 20-minute pregame catch on the field, and after the game, kids can run the bases.
