Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

PAPILLION, NEB. - For the second straight night, a good start for the Omaha Storm Chasers went to waste as Jonathan Bowlan held the Iowa Cubs to one run over 5.2 innings with eight strikeouts, but the Chasers fell to the I-Cubs 9-4 for Omaha's 10th straight loss.

The Storm Chasers struck first, as Devin Mann singled home Tucker Bradley in the bottom of the third inning for a 1-0 lead, but Omaha was unable to provide any more support for Bowlan.

Bowlan held the Cubs scoreless over the first five innings with just three hits and one walk while striking out eight. He walked his first two batters of the sixth, but then got two outs on a double play ball before turning the game over to the bullpen.

Evan Sisk faced three batters behind Bowlan and put all three on, allowing the runner he inherited to score and one of his own. Jonah Dipoto allowed a runner inherited from Sisk to score, but recorded a strikeout to end was amounted to a three-run sixth inning that put Iowa ahead for the rest of the night.

Dipoto struggled in the seventh, as his first five batters reached and he surrendered back-to-back homers, though he did record a pickoff for the first out of the frame.

Will Klein inherited a runner from Dipoto that scored and allowed one of his own to score as well, capping a five-run seventh for the Cubs.

Omaha exploded with four straight singles in the bottom of the seventh, including an RBI knock from John Rave, but three consecutive strikeouts ended the inning as the Chasers left the bases loaded and settled for just the one run.

Klein fired a 1-2-3 eighth inning and Nate Eaton homered in the bottom half, his second straight game with a homer, but the Chasers couldn't add more.

Collin Snider surrendered a run in the top of the ninth on a pair of hits but the Storm Chasers added another in the bottom half, on a pair of walks and RBI single from Tyler Gentry that brought the score to the 9-4 that held to be final.

10 hits in the loss equals the combination of the previous two games and marks the team's most in a game since July 29 in Columbus. Nick Loftin and Eaton each contributed two-hit efforts, while the team combined to leave 12 runners on base.

Omaha will try to bounce back Saturday at 5:35 p.m. CT in the fifth game of this week's six-game set with Iowa.
