Bats Lose Fourth Straight in St. Paul

ST. PAUL, MN -- Alejo Lopez extended his on-base streak to 40-consecutive games as the Louisville Bats (59-51) lost its fourth straight game to the St. Paul Saints (65-46) on Saturday Night.

Alejo Lopez wasted no to time extending his streak, drawing a leadoff walk to open the game. Lopez's now 40-game on-base streak is the longest active streak in the International League and just two games shy of tying the franchise record set by Joey Votto in 2007.

St. Paul jumped on the board early, scoring three runs in the bottom half of the first inning, highlighted by a solo home run.

The Saints added another two runs in the third, courtesy of two more solo home runs to take a 5-0 lead.

Louisville's bullpen delivered another strong night as Kevin Herget, Ricky Karcher and Evan Kravetz combined to throw the final 4.0 innings, shutting out the Saints to try and keep the Bats in the game. The trio gave up just two hits while walking two and striking out four. Herget was responsible for the bulk of the work, turning in 2.0 innings, allowing a hit with three strikeouts.

The Bats and Saints will be back in action at CHS Field tomorrow night, Saturday, August 12. First pitch is set for 8:27 pm E.T. as right-hander Lyon Richardson makes his first start for Louisville since his Major League debut while St. Paul has yet to announce a starter for the contest.
