Rochester Red Wings News Release

The Rochester Red Wings beat the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, 4-1, behind five scoreless innings from RHP Jackson Rutledge, a home run from LF Travis Blankenhorn and a two-run triple from 3B Erick Mejia. Blankenhorn's homer marked his 20th home run of the season, becoming the first Rochester lefty since Garrett Jones to reach the 20-homer mark in a season.

The Red Wings got on the board in the bottom of the first inning, taking a 1-0 lead when LF Travis Blankenhorn launched a solo home run over the right field fence. The long ball marked his 20th of the season and traveled 461 feet, marking the furthest hit by a Rochester batter this season. Blankenhorn now accounts for the longest and hardest-hit homer (112 MPH, 4/12 vs. BUF) by a Wing on separate at bats. Rochester extended their lead in the bottom of the third after a groundout from RF Jack Dunn brought in SS Richie Martin who led with a leadoff single.

After both teams traded two scoreless frames, Rochester extended their lead to 4-0 on an RBI triple from 3B Erick Mejia, his third of the season and first since 7/18. Wings pitching held the IronPigs scoreless through 8.1 innings before C Rafael Marchan hit an RBI single to bring in LF Dustin Peterson and cut the deficit to 4-1.

RHP Jackson Rutledge (2-1, 4.79) started on the mound for the Wings, working five scoreless innings while allowing two hits, two walks and striking out a pair of IronPigs batters to earn his second Triple-A win. His outing marked the first scoreless outing by a Rochester starter since RHP Wily Peralta on 7/30 vs. WOR. LHP Tim Cate worked a scoreless inning, allowing two hits while striking out one. RHP Luis Reyes and RHP Gerson Moreno combined for three innings of work, striking out four batters and allowing an earned run on two hits.

Rochester finished 1-for-3 on ABS Challenges. Lehigh Valley followed suit, winning one of their two challenged calls.

LF Travis Blankenhorn earned Saturday night's Diamond Pro Player of the Game honors after going 2-for-3 with a home run, hit by pitch and two runs scored, extending his team-leading hitting streak to eight games. Since the start of the streak (8/2), Blankenhorn is hitting .452 (14-for-31) with five home runs, four doubles 11 RBI and holds an OPS of 1.638.

Rochester returns to the field tomorrow for their final game in the series against the IronPigs. RHP Tommy Romero is set to make the start for the Wings against RHP Tyler Phillips. First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m.
