Lumberkings Saw off Snappers Late

A big ninth inning for the Clinton Lumberkings sealed the deal against the Beloit Snappers Sunday afternoon at Pohlman Field.

Clinton jumped out to an early 1-0 lead as Kris Sanchez scored on a wild pitch by Snapper starting pitcher Bobby Lanigan.

In the fourth the Snappers offense took charge as Drew Thompson led off with a walk and Ramon Santana got hit by a pitch. Right fielder Michael Harrington loaded the bases with a single to right setting the plate for Ozzie Lewis who grounded into a fielder choice to scratch the first run for the Snappers. With the game tied at one Nate Hanson flew out to center field to score Santana from third, giving the Snappers a one run advantage.

In the sixth the Lumberkings tied the game at two and would later put the game out of reach by scoring six runs in the ninth giving the Lumberkings the 9-2 victory.

The Snappers will take on the Lumberkings in game two of the four game series Monday night at Pohlman Field as Brad Tippett will take the hill for the Snappers. Monday night will be Faith Night featuring Alakrity.
