
Luis Perez Tosses Complete Game, But Fisher Cats Fall 2-0 in Akron

Akron, OH- Luis Perez pitched the first complete game of the season by a Fisher Cats pitcher, but New Hampshire was shut out for the first time, losing 2-0 to Akron before 1,975 on Wednesday night at Canal Park.
Akron, winners of nine straight games, got a tremendous start from Scott Barnes (2-5). Barnes allowed two hits in seven scoreless innings. He did not walk anybody and struck out ten.
The Aeros (29-30) broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the sixth inning. Tim Fedroff beat out a slow roller up the first base line for a single, Cristo Arnal walked and Lonnie Chisenhall put Akron up 1-0 with a single to right field.
New Hampshire (36-24) had its best chance to score in the top of the eighth inning. Manny Mayorson singled and stole second. He moved to third on a David Cooper ground out. But Akron cut down Mayorson trying to score on a grounder to second with the infield drawn in.
Akron added a run against Perez in the bottom of the eighth inning. Damaso Espino walked, moved to second on Fedroff's groundout and took third on a wild pitch. He scored on Arnal's base hit to left.
Perez (5-6) suffered his third straight loss, going a season-high eight innings for his third career complete game, all with the Fisher Cats. He allowed four hits, all singles, walked four and struck out eight.
Bryce Stowell finished up, working two scoreless innings in relief for Akron for his third save.
The Fisher Cats conclude the series at Canal Park against the Aeros on Thursday night at 7:05pm. New Hampshire sends right-hander Kyle Drabek (7-4, 3.22) to the mound to face Akron left-hander Eric Berger (2-4, 6.69). The Fisher Cats return to Merchantsauto.com Stadium to open a three-game series against the Akron Aeros, Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, on Tuesday, June 15, at 7:05pm.
