
Lugnuts take series finale, 6-4

The Lansing Lugnuts took the final game of their four game series with the Cedar Rapids Kernels, 6-4, in front of 6,108 fans at Oldsmobile Park on Thursday night in Lansing.
Kernels second baseman Ryan Mount hit an inside-the-park home run in the fifth inning off Lansing reliever Chris Reddout - his third home run of the season.
Catcher Hank Conger was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and a stolen base and Wil Ortiz was 1 for 4 with an RBI as the Kernels were held to six hits in the game.
Reddout (5-1) picked up the win in relief of starter Julio Pinto, allowing a run on two hits over three innings pitched and Eddy Rodriguez allowed a hit over 2/3 of an inning to earn his fifth save. Kernels starter David Herndon (8-8) gave up six runs on eight hits, walked three and struck out three over 5.1 innings to take the loss.
The Kernels now head into a home-and-home commuter series with the Clinton LumberKings with the first two games in Clinton starting Friday night at 7 pm. Trevor Bell will start for the Kernels against lefty Broc Coffman for the LumberKings. The game can be heard on the internet at www.kernels.com
Cedar Rapids returns home to Veterans Memorial Stadium on Sunday, August 5 to play 12 games in 13 days against Clinton, South Bend, Great Lakes and Peoria. The first game starts at 2 pm on Sunday afternoon and tickets can be purchased on-line at www.kernels.com
