
Bullpen changes in Fort Wayne

Fort Wayne, IN - The Fort Wayne Wizards bullpen took on a new member to staff today when right-hander Dylan Axelrod was promoted from the San Diego Padres Arizona Rookie League team.
To make room on the roster for Axelrod's spot, right-hander Ernesto Frieri was promoted to the Lake Elsinore Storm of the California League.
Frieri was 1-2 with a 2.64 earned run average in 40 relief appearances, third-most on the Wizards staff. In 64 2/3 innings, he allowed 48 hits, walked 23 and struck out 65.
Axelrod joins the Wizards after making 11 relief appearances for the Arizona Padres. He was 0-2, with two saves and a 5.40 ERA in 11 2/3 innings. He allowed 15 hits, walked four and struck out 15.
Axelrod is the newphew of sports agent Barry Axelrod, who represents several major league players, including former Wizard Jake Peavy.
Dylan was selected in the 30th round of the Major League-Minor League Baseball Draft out of the University of California Irvine. With UC-Irvine this season, he was 6-4 with a 3.96 ERA in a team-high 34 appearances. He allowed 68 hits, walked 23 and struck out 7 in 72 2/3 innings.
