
Sixth-Rounder Fills Out Swing Roster

Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
The St. Louis Cardinals transferred infielder Oliver Marmol to Quad Cities on Friday, promoting the sixth-round pick from Batavia while bringing the Swing active roster up to 25 for the first time since July 12.
Marmol, a 21-year-old from Orlando, Florida, was drafted out of the College of Charleston, becoming the first Southern Conference player taken in the 2007 draft. A First-Team All-Conference selection, Marmol hit .345 with a conference-high 84 runs in 56 games as a Junior this Spring, adding 20 doubles, 45 RBI, and 28 stolen bases while posting a .458 on-base percentage and slugging .550.
Primarily a shortstop, Marmol began his professional career in the New York-Penn League, where he hit .213 with 20 runs scored and seven stolen bases in 33 games for the Batavia Muckdogs.
The Swing of the Quad Cities roster currently stands at 25 active players, the maximum allowed by the Midwest League. An updated roster accompanies this release.

UP NEXT: The Swing are in the midst of a 10-game road stretch that winds down in West Michigan through Monday. They will return to the Quad Cities for a 10-game homestand starting on Tuesday, August 7.
