"I'm thrilled to present our Grand River Country Club to Jackson Field for a second time!" said course architect Matt Hicks, the Lugnuts' director of retail. "Everyone who played the GRCC 9-hole chipping course last year really enjoyed themselves and asked when we were going to bring it back. It was a dream of mine to see this project go from a pencil drawing on a napkin to reality last year. And now to have the opportunity to do it again for the greater Lansing residents is awesome!"
The nine-hole course begins at Pepsi Porch and continues around the concourse before concluding below the video board. Golfers receive three shots per hole, with points totaled and awarded: 25 points for a hole-in-one, 10 points for reaching the green, and 2 points for a ball on the field. Bonus points will be awarded for wearing argyle socks (15 points), Lugnuts gear (10 points) and/or a Hawaiian shirt (5 points).
The golfer with the highest point total from a completed round will be named champion, receiving the Grand River Country Club Championship Red Blazer, a complimentary night in the Owner's Suite for a Lugnuts home game this season, and a trophy to commemorate their championship.
Each golfer will receive a Grand River Country Club logoed golf ball and a Grand River Country Club logoed golf towel with their paid tee time reservation.
The estimated round time is 45-60 minutes, with food and drinks readily available at the Pepsi Porch, the Ope! Alehouse, Red Cedar Spirits and Good Hops inside Jackson® Field.
"If you don't have plans this Memorial Day weekend, grab your golfing buddies, make a tee time reservation and come out to the Grand River Country Club at Jackson Field for a truly fun and unique experience," added Hicks.
