Great Lakes Loons News Release
APPLETON, WI - Josh Wall won his seventh straight start and the Loons scored every inning after the third on their way to a 10-2 victory Sunday afternoon over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.
Eight of the nine Loons position players recorded a hit in the win. Angelo Songco had three hits and was on base five times. J.T. Wise had three hits, two doubles and two RBIs, and Jaime Ortiz recorded three hits, two RBIs and one double. Brian Cavazos-Galvez singled in his last at bat of the game to extend his hitting streak to 17 games, the second longest streak in team history.
Wall (7-4) walked a career-high six batters but surrendered just two runs over six innings for the win. J.B. Paxson threw two scoreless innings followed by a perfect ninth inning by Steve Ames.
Wisconsin led 1-0 early, but the Loons tied the game in the fourth on Wise's first of two RBI doubles. In the fifth, the Loons took the lead with three runs and never trailed after that. Nick Buss scored the go-ahead run in the inning from third on a ground ball to short by Cavazos-Galvez. Later in the inning, Ortiz singled home two with a single to right.
The Loons are 62-30 overall, the best record in full-season professional baseball. The Loons have won 16 of their last 18 and 18 of 22 in the second half. The Loons also are now 36-14 on the road and have won 13 of 16 road series.
