Lookouts Jump Out to a Fast Start in 7-5 Win

The Chattanooga Lookouts scored six runs across the first three innings en route to a 7-5 win over the Birmingham Barons.

The home team started the scoring off early when Isiah Gilliam belted a two-run home run in the first. In the second inning, Ivan Johnson smacked a two-run single to double up the score.

Birmingham cut the lead in half in the third inning, but the Lookouts offense was not finished scoring. With no outs in the third inning, James Free launched a 389-foot home run to bring home two runs.

Up 6-2, Lookouts starting pitcher Andrew Abbott was able to hold the Barons in check. He finished his second career start at AT&T Field only allowing three runs in fiving innings. Abbott is now 2-0 on the season with 19 strikeouts.

Birmingham was able to scratch across several more runs, but the Lookouts bullpen closed it out.

Chattanooga moves to 23-19 on the season and is two games out of first place. Tomorrow, the team takes on the mantle of the Chattanooga Choo-Choos and will play against the Birmingham Black Barons on Negro League Appreciation Night.
