
M-Braves Smash Six Homers in Historic 19-6 Win over Blue Wahoos

Lugbauer and Alexander each hit two homers, Clementina goes 5-for-5, Gordon tosses six innings of one-run ball BOX SCORE PENSACOLA, FL - The Mississippi Braves (21-22) smashed six homers and a season-high 17 hits in a 19-6 win over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (20-18) on Friday night at Blue Wahoos Stadium.
The M-Braves tied their club record with 19 runs, which was previously set at Montgomery May 7, 2013. The M-Braves scored in seven of nine innings and won their fourth game in the last five.
The M-Braves are 14-9 in May and just 1 1/2 games back from first place Pensacola in the Southern League South Division.
CJ Alexander homered twice and knocked in four in his second multi-homer game this season. The third baseman hammered his first homer 462 feet over the scoreboard in right field. It was the longest home run by an M-Brave this season. Alexander's second homer traveled 456 feet.
In 20 games in May, Alexander has six home runs and 16 RBI.
Hendrik Clementina went 5-for-5 with a 460-foot bomb in the sixth. The catcher is batting .277 with three homers and 11 RBI.
Drew Lugbauer followed Clementina's homer with one of his own to make it 12-1 in the sixth. Lugbauer blasted an opposite-field grand slam in the ninth inning to make it 19-4 and tie the club record for runs in a game.
The first baseman went 2-for-6 with two homers and six RBI. Lugbauer moved to a tie for second in the Southern League with 11 home runs.
RHP Tanner Gordon posted his best outing for the M-Braves this season. Gordon tossed six innings of one-run ball, giving up five hits and two walks with two strikeouts.
Luke Waddell notched two hits, three RBI and two walks. Waddell is ninth in the Southern League with 27 RBI this season. The infielder is ranked as Atlanta's No. 26 prospect, cracking the top 30 list for this week.
Michael Harris II went 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI and a walk. Harris II dumped his double into the corner of left field to score two runs in the fifth. Atlanta's top prospect is hitting .305 with five home runs and 33 RBI this season. His 33 RBI ranks third in the Southern League.
The fifth game of the road series is on Saturday at Blue Wahoos Stadium. LHP Jared Shuster (3-3, 2.14) makes the start for Mississippi against RHP George Soriano (0-1, 3.22) for Pensacola.
