
M-Braves Set Season's Highest Run Total in 13-9 Win over Blue Wahoos

Miller blasts fourth homer, Moritz hits two doubles, all nine hitters record a hit and a run BOX SCORE PENSACOLA, FL - The Mississippi Braves (20-22) set a season-high in runs in their 13-9 win over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (20-17) on Thursday night at Blue Wahoos stadium.
The club tied its season-high with six doubles and leads the Southern League with 84 doubles. All nine players in the lineup scored a run and recorded a hit.
Michael Harris II notched the first hit of the game, and Atlanta's top prospect started the scoring by slipping a wild bouncer through the middle of the infield to score two runs in the second.
Harris II reached base four times while going 2-for-4 with two RBI. The outfielder ranks fifth in the Southern League with 31 RBI.
RHP Darius Vines went five innings and allowed two runs off six hits and a walk with eight strikeouts. Atlanta's No. 13 prospect lowered to a 4.27 ERA and leads the Southern League with 58 strikeouts.
Leading 3-2, the M-Braves exploded in the sixth. Andrew Moritz led off with a double down the left field line.
Moritz went 2-for-4 with two doubles and three runs scored, extending his hitting streak to six games. The outfielder was transferred from High-A Rome on April 29 and has played 18 games for Mississippi.
Trey Harris followed by going the other way for a double down the right field line to score Moritz. Two batters later, Luke Waddell walked to bring in Harris and make it 5-2. Yariel Gonzalez then smashed the third double of the inning into the corner in right field to score Harris II. After a walk, Jalen Miller laced a single to right field to score Waddell and extend the lead to 7-2. The M-Braves scored two more runs and ended the inning up 9-2.
The M-Braves added four more in the eighth, including a two-run blast from Miller, his fourth of the season. Miller continued his tear in the month of May with two hits and three RBI. In 14 games this month, Miller is batting .327 with three homers and 15 RBI with a .426 OBP.
RHP Troy Bacon tossed two scoreless innings in relief and holds a 3.86 ERA this season. LHP Jake Higginbotham allowed no runs eighth inning for his seventh straight scoreless outing.
Pensacola put up seven runs in the ninth to close the game at 13-9.
The fourth game of the road series is on Friday at Blue Wahoos Stadium. RHP Tanner Gordon (1-2, 9.98) makes the start for Mississippi against RHP Cody Mincey (3-1, 3.48) for Pensacola.
