Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release
Eric Niesen had his best outing in AA but took the tough-luck loss as Binghamton dropped Thursday night's game at NYSEG Stadium and the series to Bowie 2-0. Josh Thole had his 26th multi-hit game of the season by collecting two more doubles giving him 21 on the year.
Robert Valido led off the fourth against Niesen with a single and advanced to second on Michael Costanzo's groundout. Miguel Abreu followed by collecting the game's only RBI when he doubled to right giving the Baysox a 1-0 lead.
That score stood until the eighth when Bowie scored an unearned run off Edgar Ramirez. Guillermo Rodriguez led off with a triple and scored when Jonathan Tucker hit a sharp grounder to Jonathan Malo at third. Malo was unsuccessful at trying to tag Rodriguez out who was diving back to third and then threw wild to first allowing Rodriguez to score to make it 2-0.
Niesen went a season-high six innings and struck out a season-best six. He gave up one run on six hits and a walk for the loss to drop him to 0-3.
Radhames Liz made his second AA start of the season and pitched seven scoreless innings for Bowie (38-33) to move to 2-0. He gave up three hits and a walk and struck out six Binghamton (27-44) batters. Josh Perrault rebounded from last night's blown save to shut down the B-Mets in the ninth to earn his 13th save.
Binghamton travels to Akron for their first meeting with the Southern Division leading Aeros on Friday night. The B-Mets will send RHP Eric Brown (4-6, 5.72 ERA) to the mound and Akron will counter with RHP Hector Rondon (6-4, 2.83 ERA). The first pitch is slated for 7:05 and the radio broadcast on Newsradio 1290 WNBF begins at 6:50 with the Horizons Federal Credit Union Pre-Game Show.
