Lincoln, NE.....A ninth inning rally fell one run short Monday as the Explorers dropped their fifth straight losing to Lincoln 7-6.

The Explorers trailed 6-0 after three inning and started the comeback in the fifth on a bases loaded double by Alex Llanos that closed the gap to 6-3. Lincoln added a run in the sixth to take a 7-3 lead going into the ninth inning. The X's loaded the bases with nobody out as Llanos grounded out to second to cut the lead to 7-4. Then Justin Nelson's sacrifice fly to center scored Derek Schmerhorn and the Lincoln lead has been sliced to 7-5. With two outs, James Boone doubled to drive in Nick McCoola to drop the lead to 7-6. Boone's double came within a couple of feet of leaving the park in right centerfield. With the loss the Explorers fall to 7-10 in the second half and drop one and a half games behind Lincoln in the American Association North.

The second game of the four-game series with Lincoln will be played Tuesday at 7:05 at Haymarket Park in Lincoln.
