Wichita Wingnuts News Release

WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Wingnuts announced they will host the 2010 American Association All-Star Game at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.

The current American Association formed in 2006, with the Wingnuts joining as an expansion team in 2008. The game matches All-Stars from the North Division versus the South Division in mid-July. Over the past two seasons, the two teams participating in the American Association Championship Series have determined the All-Star Game's managers the following year.

This past Tuesday, the North defeated the South 6-2, with Wingnuts' right-hander Derek Blacksher earning the win. Wichita sent a total of seven players to the game, more than any other team in the league.

Several pre-game events and festivities will lead up to the game, including the annual home run derby. Ticket and sponsorship information for the All-Star Game will be available within the next few weeks.

The first half champion Wingnuts open a three-game series tonight against the Pensacola Pelicans at 7:05 p.m. The Wingnuts host Credit Union of America Buy-In Night, as well as their weekly Military Monday promotion. It is also Reggae Night, presented by Red Stripe and 104.5 The Fox. For tickets and more information, contact the Wingnuts' office at (316) 264-4625.
