
Lincoln Rallies Again in Eighth

LINCOLN, NE - The Winnipeg Goldeyes (6-9) lost 5-2 to the Lincoln Saltdogs at Haymarket Park on Saturday night.
With the Goldeyes leading 2-1, the Saltdogs rallied for four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to go in front 5-2. Josh Altmann reached on an error leading off and took second on a single to centre from Welington Dotel that broke off the glove of a diving Reggie Pruitt Jr. After Eddy Martinez walked to load the bases, Altmann scored the tying run on a wild pitch. Matthew Goodheart singled home Dotel with the lead run, and the Saltdogs added insurance on a two-out, two-run double from Hunter Clanin.
Brandon Cunniff worked a scoreless top of the ninth to earn his fifth save of the season.
The Goldeyes took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second when David Washington hit an opposite-field solo home run to left.
The Saltdogs answered in the bottom half on an RBI double down the left field line from Garrett Delano.
Winnipeg took its second lead in the top of the fifth on a Pruitt solo home run to left.
Carter Hope (3-0) picked up the win in relief for Lincoln after pitching a scoreless top of the eighth. Tasker Strobel (0-1) took the loss for the Goldeyes.
Alex Manasa started for the Goldeyes and took a no-decision, allowing one earned run on six hits over six innings. Manasa walked one and struck out six.
Former Major League left-hander Buddy Baumann started for Lincoln and also took a no-decision, allowing two earned runs on four hits in seven innings. Baumann walked one and struck out a Saltdogs' record 15 batters.
