
Lewis drives in four in win over Lexington

Charleston, WV (July 5, 2005) - Will Lewis entered Tuesday night's game against Lexington as the West Virginia Power's leader in Runs Batted In. On Tuesday he drove in four runs and the Power beat the Legends by the final score of 9-5.
In the top of the first inning Drew Sutton grounded into a 4-6-3 double play with the bases loaded and knocked in Bryan Triplett to give Lexington a 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the second inning Adam Mannon and Alcides Escobar both reached on fielder's choices and brought in runs in the process to give the Power a 2-1 lead. The Power pulled away in the bottom of the fourth inning on Will Lewis's three run triple and Grant Richardson's Sac Fly RBI to take a 6-1 lead. Francisco Caraballo knocked in a run on an RBI single in the top of the sixth inning to make it a 6-2 game. Hasan Rasheed produced a run scoring single in the bottom of the sixth inning to put the Power up 7-2. In the top of the seventh the Legends pulled themselves within striking distance. Hunter Pence and Ole Sheldon hit RBI singles and Drew Sutton smacked an RBI double to make it a 7-5 game. Will Lewis smacked an RBI single and Grant Richardson contributed with an RBI double in the bottom of the eighth inning to put the Power up 9-5.
Yovani Gallardo (2-3) earned the victory, Robert Hinton (5) earned the save and Evan Englebrook (6-2) obtained the loss. The Power are 5-7 in the second half after the win and the Legends fall to 5-7 with the loss.
The Power will conclude the series against the Lexington Legends at Appalachian Power Park on Wednesday night. The Power will throw right-handed pitcher Mark Rogers (0-6, 4.62) and the Legends will counter with right-handed pitcher Jimmy Barthmaier (6-3, 2.34). The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
