Delmarva Shorebirds News Release
Delmarva took advantage of the control problems of HAG Starter Rafael Cova scoring their first five runs on only one hit. It was Juan Gutierrez's bases loaded clearing double in the top of the first that highlighted the four run burst. The Shorebirds scored one run in the second on an RBI ground out from Jake Duncan. Delmarva added three more in the fifth inning on RBI singles from Jason Fransz and Arturo Rivas and an RBI double from Gutierrez. The âBirds lead 8-4 going into the ninth when Jesus Flores cleared the loaded bases with a double shrinking the âBirds lead. Flores was at second with one out and RHP Derek Forbes struck out Mike Carp and then retired Ambiorix Concepcion on a fly out to center to earn his first save.
