'Birds Start 2nd Half of Season on a TEAR!
Here are some eye-popping numbers! As the boys of summer have returned to Perdue Stadium for the second half, they are on a roll! They are currently (9-3) and have won 9 of their last ten games! In that stretch the team has been firing on all cylnders of the game - from hitting-to-pitching-to-fielding. Offensively they are hitting .300 combined, with 108 hits and 13 homeruns. Their pitching has been phenominal, going (9-1) while striking out 72 batters and have came away with 6 saves. Your Shorebirds have outscored opponents 72 to 38 in the past ten games! So, I have to ask - Why wouldn't you come out on Wednesday night, support the hometown team before they leave town and head out to Ohio for 4-game road trip against Lake County Captains? Tonight Your 'Birds face the Suns from Hagerstown (1st Half Champs) - Game time: 7:05pm/ Gates open: 6:05pm just kick back and watch American's Greatest Pastime unfold in front of your very eyes, while being entertained by the "The #1 Family Attraction on Delmarva" - Your Delmarva Shorebirds, it doesn't get much better than that! Tickets!
BIRD WORD! Player of the WEEK!
Arturo Rivas one of the main reasons why Your Shorebirds are off to such a great start for the second half of this 2005 season. Through his last 2 games he has gone 7 for 9 with 4 Homeruns, 5 Runs scored, 9 RBI's - all well batting at a cool clip of .406 in his last ten games. Rivas has also impressed the hometown crowd by his defnsive ability and rocket-like arm. Teams around the league now know not to run on Arturo's arm. As long as Rivas and the rest of the guys keep up there clutch hitting Your 'Birds should stay near the top of the SAL standings. Check Arturo's and the rest of Your 'Birds stats!
