Kannapolis, NC - It looked awfully familiar Wednesday when for the second night Chris Getz drove in Boomer Berry to give the I's a 4-3 win. This time Berry reached on a hit in the eighth was sacrificed to second by Ricks, moved to third on a wild pitch, and scored on a ground ball and second baseman's error. Last night it was a Getz sacrifice fly that drove in Berry for the winning run in the ninth.
Getz finished 2-5 with a single, triple, and run scored. The White Sox fourth round pick has now hit safely in all ten of his pro games. Jeff Little (4-3) got the win with 2.1 innings of one run relief. Bret Campbell (4-2) takes the loss. Matt Zaleski pitched a scoreless ninth for his 16th save.
Kannapolis took a 1-0 lead in the first when Sean Smith singled home Getz. The I's added to the lead in the fourth with a Josh Hansen solo homer his 17th of the year and Donny Lucy RBI single. Adam Russell got the start and no decision in 5.2 innings allowing two runs on four hits while striking out three.
The I's and Gnats will play again Thursday night at 7:05 with Jack Egbert (6-4 3.54) taking on Daryl Thompson (2-3 3.33).
