June 18, 2015 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Lexington Legends News Release

The American Heart Association, Lexington Clinic - Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, and the popular children's character Arthur will all take a turn in the spotlight - as will all dads on Father's Day -- as the Lexington Legends close out the first half of the 2015 season this weekend.

"The American Heart Association and Lexington Clinic-Orthopedics and Sports Medicine are longtime partners of the Legends, and it's great to have them join us at Whitaker Bank Ballpark again this year," said Legends President/CEO Andy Shea. "On Sunday, the kids should have a great time with Arthur, and of course, we'll be celebrating Father's Day."

The Legends, class A affiliate of the American League champion Kansas City Royals, will take on the Rome Braves, an affiliate of the Atlanta Braves, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Sunday's game ends the first half of the South Atlantic League season, and after the three-day All-Star break, every team will start with a 0-0 record when the second half begins Thursday, June 25.

The schedule:

Friday, June 19: Legends vs. Rome, 7:05 p.m. It's Go Red Night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark, as the Legends and their fans will join the American Heart Association in the fight against heart disease, the number one killer of women. Fans are encouraged to wear red to the game. The American Heart Association will give away 1,000 baseball seat cushions.

A Ford Fireworks show will follow the game.

Saturday, June 20: Legends vs. Rome, 7:05 p.m. The Legends will welcome Lexington Clinic-Orthopedics and Sports Medicine to the ballpark, including Legends' team physicians Dr. Ben Kibler, Dr. Trevor Wilkes, Dr. Peter Hester and Dr. David Dome as well as other physicians and staff. The physicians will present the Citizen Athlete of the Year Award to the person who demonstrates the true meaning of the word "athlete." Lexington Clinic will have giveaway items for fans while supplies last.

Another Ford Fireworks show will follow Saturday's game.

Sunday, June 21: Legends vs. Rome, 6:05 p.m. The popular children's character Arthur will make an appearance at Whitaker Bank Ballpark Sunday. Arthur has a goal of increasing interest in reading and writing, and encouraging positive social skills. Seen on PBS since 1996, Arthur, an eight-year-old aardvark, and his sister D.W. help children explore issues they encounter in everyday life.

The Legends are offering a "World's Greatest Dad" package for Sunday's game. For $26.00, ($24.00 for children under 12), the "World's Greatest Dad" package includes includes an all-you-can-eat picnic in the stables area; a game day ticket; souvenir baseball or mini-bat; an on-field catch with Dad; an on-field photo with Big L and Pee Wee; and each package purchased will be entered to win a VIP upgrade.
