Rome Downs Hickory 3-2 in Series Finale

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves scored twice in the first inning and never looked back en route to a 3-1 win over the Hickory Crawdads Thursday at State Mutual Stadium. The game was delayed 33 minutes due to rain.

Ozzie Albies and Omar Obregon led off the inning with singles. With runners at first and third, Tanner Krietemeier's sacrifice fly scored Albies for the 1-0 score. Obregon later crossed the plate on an RBI groundout by Braxton Davidson giving Rome the 2-0 advantage. The Braves added another run in the third on Krietemeier's run scoring groundout making it a 3-0 game. Hickory scored twice in the eighth on Jairo Beras sacrifice fly RBI and Isiah Kiner-Falefa's run scoring single but the Rome bullpen shut them down for the final frame to preserve the victory.

Rome starter Ricardo Sanchez (1-3) gets his first win of the season going six shutout innings while scattering five hits. Hickory's Nick Gardewine (4-5) takes the loss while Kyle Kinman (11) earns the save. ROSTER MOVE - Rome places RHP Chad Sobotka on the disabled list with a right forearm strain and receives RHP Fernando Miranda from Danville. Roster is at 25 players.
