Texas Legends News Release
FRISCO, TX - The Texas Legends came up short in their rally against the Oklahoma City Blue Friday night at Dr Pepper Arena. After trailing by 21, Texas cut the deficit to single-digits but ran out of time as the Blue grabbed the 102-94 win.
The first quarter stayed close with only three lead changes as both teams fought to get started from the three. Renaldo Balkman had six points and four rebounds to lead all scorers as the scoreboard showed a 20-all tie at the buzzer. The Blue found their shot in the second, knocking down 10-of-20 for 29 points to take an eight-point advantage at the half.
The problems escalated for the Legends as they came out of the locker room ice cold. The eight active players combined for five field goals, never finding an outside shot, as the Blue climbed to a 17-point lead. The gap grew to 21 at the beginning of the fourth before the Legends found the basket. Mike James chipped away at the deficit, knocking down 17 of his 19 points in the final 12 minutes, but the Blue continued to answer. With 29 seconds on the clock, James tabbed a three-point play that would make it a six-point game, but the Legends missed back-to-back opportunities to seal the Blue victory.
The Legends had two players with double-doubles on the night. Balkman led the team with 21 points, 15 rebounds, James posted 19 points, 11 assists.
Maurice Sutton had a game-high 22 points to power the Blue while Marquis Teague followed closely with 21.
The two teams will rematch Sunday in Oklahoma at 2pm. Fans can catch all the action live on www.TexLegends.com.
