Kilpatrick's Hot Shooting Leads Sevens Past Skyforce

Sioux Falls, SD - Sean Kilpatrick started the game 13-13 before missing his first shot of the game at the 11:18 mark of the final quarter as the Delaware 87ers defeated the Sioux Falls Skyforce 118-110.

Delaware (14-19) jumped out to an early 12-8 lead on a three-point basket from Sean Kilpatrick with 8:55 left in the opening quarter. The Skyforce (18-14) responded with a 16-6 run over the next 3:44 to take a 24-18 lead. Sioux Falls would extend their lead to nine before a put-back dunk from Kenny Hall made the Skyforce lead to seven at the end of the first quarter. Scotty Hopson finished the quarter with 12 points and Kilpatrick finished with 10 first quarter points.

The Skyforce would take their first double-digit lead of the game on a Michael Williams three-pointer with 9:32 left in the second quarter. Sioux Falls would lead by as much as 12 before Delaware would end the quarter on a 23-10 run and take a 64-63 lead into halftime. Kilpatrick led the comeback for the 87ers as he scored 14 second quarter points (6-6 FG), giving him 24 points (10-10 FG) in the first half.

Delaware would continue to roll as they started the second half on a 12-3 run which gave them a 76-66 lead with 8:37 remaining in the quarter. The 87ers lead would reach as high as 18 points during the third quarter and they would take 95-81 lead into the final quarter. The 87ers shot 5-8 from three-point range in the third quarter compared to just 1-8 for Sioux Falls.

The Skyforce started the final quarter with a 10-4 run to pull within eight points with 8:26 remaining in the game. Delaware quickly responded and a lay-up from Jamal Jones gave them a 13 point lead halfway through the fourth quarter. Sioux Falls would again cut into the deficit and a Fuquan Edwin lay-up with 1:00 remaing brought the Skyforce within four. The Skyforce would not get any close and the Delaware 87ers extended their winning streak to three with a 118-110 win over the Sioux Falls Skyforce.

Sean Kilpatrick finished the night with 33 points, five rebounds and four assists. Kilpatrick shot 13-14 from the field and 5-5 from three-point range. D.J. Seeley recorded 20 points and a game high 11 assists. Jared Cunningham (15 points), Victor Rudd (14 points) and Jamal Jones (12 points) also finished in double-digits for the 87ers. As a team, Delaware shot 50% (16-32) from behind the arc.

Scotty Hopson led the Skyforce with 23 points to go along with eight rebounds and six assists. Khem Birch scored 10 points and grabbed a game high 11 rebounds as he recorded his eleventh double-double of the season. Andre Dawkins finished the night with 15 points in his return to the team. Byron Mullen, in his first game with the team, finished with nine points and five rebounds.

Sioux Falls and Delaware will be back in action at the Sanford Pentagon tomorrow with tip-off schedule for 7:00 p.m.
