Texas Legends News Release
Bismarck, ND (December 17, 2010) - The Texas Legends fell 115-102 to the Dakota Wizards in the opening game of a two-game set from the Bismarck Civic Center on Friday night.
The Legends trailed the Wizards by only two points going into the second quarter, when Vernon Hamilton scored seven straight points to give Dakota a strong nine point lead.
Justin Dentmon also caught fire in the first half with 16 points and three three-pointer's. However, aside from Dentmon only three other Legends players scored in the first half, including Dominique Jones, Sean Williams and Joe Alexander. Texas found themselves trailing 57-48 going into the break.
The Wizards maintained a solid lead until the Legends went on a 13-6 run to end the third quarter and make it just a three point deficit.
The teams fought back and forth throughout the fourth quarter, but it was Renaldo Major and recent assignee from the Memphis Grizzlies DeMarre Carroll late in the game fuelling the Wizards to just their second win all season.
Justin Dentmon was unstoppable through the first three quarters scoring all of his career-high 24 points, however was silenced and held scoreless in the fourth. Joe Alexander in his return from a foot injury provided the teams lone double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
Carroll, Major, Chris Johnson and Darren Cooper all had 20 or more points in the win for Dakota as the Wizards led from the tip-off until the final buzzer.
The loss drops Texas to 6-4 on the season, while the Wizards improved to 2-9. For the first time in franchise history the Legends have lost back-to-back games.
The Legends will look to bounce back tomorrow night in North Dakota as they take on the Dakota Wizards in the final game of a two-game set and the last meeting between the teams in the regular season. Tomorrow night's game is set for a 7:00 pm tip-off.
Great tickets for all Legends home games are still available by calling (214) 469-0822 or emailing the team at info@texlegends.com.
