Erie BayHawks News Release
Erie, Pennsylvania, Friday, December 17 - The Erie BayHawks have added power forward Jeff Adrien to their 10-man roster and waived forward Jarvis Gunter.
Adrien (6-7, 243 lbs) was released by the Golden State Warriors on December 9 and entered the NBA Development League available player pool on December 15. Gunter had been with Erie since the team's inaugural season in 2008.
"Adding Jeff Adrien to our roster presented an opportunity to get a player with NBA experience and tremendous ability which we're excited about," said BayHawks president Matt Bresee. "But we extend a sincere thanks to Jarvis for not only the contributions he's made on the court, but also for the time and effort he's given being active in the community the last two years. He's been a model teammate and citizen and will always be a BayHawk. We wish him all the best."
Adrien was invited to Golden State's training camp after going undrafted in this past season's NBA draft. The 24-year old rookie out of the University of Connecticut appeared in 15 games for the Warriors and averaged 2.9 points and 3.3 rebounds in 10.8 minutes of play. He had a season-high 12 points in a November 26 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, and just missed a double-double in a November 21 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers in which he had 9 points and 10 rebounds. Adrien was released by the Warriors when they acquired guard Acie Law.
Adrien had a stellar collegiate career averaging 12.1 points and 8.5 rebounds in four years at UConn. He's just the fifth athlete in school history to amass over 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in a career, and scored in double figures in 89 of 133 games while producing 47-double-double performances as a Husky.
Adrien has joined the BayHawks in Des Moines, Iowa where they take on the Iowa Energy (8-2) at 8:00 pm ET on Friday before heading to Fort Wayne to face the Mad Ants (5-3) on Sunday at 5:00 pm ET. Both nights fans can listen live on AM-1330 or watch live on nba.com/futurecast.
