Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release
Sioux Falls, S.D. (Dec. 17) - The Utah Flash defeated the Sioux Falls Skyforce 106-101 at the Sioux Falls Arena on Friday night. Sioux Falls took a three point lead (91-88) midway through the fourth quarter after trailing by as many as 16 points in the second half but Utah made the key plays down the stretch to pick up their league-leading fifth road win.
Sioux Falls (2-8) jumped out to a 10-3 lead in the first three minutes of the game but Utah went on a 14-0 run over the next five minutes to go ahead 17-10. Utah (6-5) would not relinquish the lead the rest of the first half and took a 54-41 lead into the locker rooms.
Sioux Falls closed the gap to eight points (56-48) early in the second half before Flash center Brandon Costner made three 3-pointers in five minutes to push the lead back to 15 points (71-56). Sioux Falls ended the third quarter with a 10-0 spurt in the final two minutes and trailed 79-73 heading into the final stanza. A reverse lay-up by Anthony Harris gave Sioux Falls their first lead since the first quarter but they could not hold on for the win and fell to 1-5 at home.
Costner scored a season-high 23 points behind 5-of-6 3-point field goals. Andre Ingram added 19 points while Ryan Thompson provided a spark off the bench with 15.
Dexter Pittman nearly posted a triple-double like his HEAT teammate LeBron James did tonight as he finished with 27 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks. Anthony Harris posted a season-high 19 points in his first start of the season and Leemire Goldwire scored 17 points in a reserve role.
The same two teams tangle tomorrow night at the Sioux Falls Arena at 7 p.m. CT.
