APPLEBEE'S PARK (Lexington, KY.) - The Lexington Legends announced today that the Lexington Legends Charitable Giving Foundation would be awarding a yearly scholarship to a Central Kentucky African American high school baseball player in the name of Jackie Robinson.

The recipients of the "Legends Team 42" scholarship will get $500 dollars towards tuition to the school of their choice.

"Jackie Robinson transcended the game of baseball," said Legends General Manager Kevin Kulp. "His courage and strength inspired and affected millions of people, and the scholarship is a small way to honor him and the impact he had on our country."

The Legends also announced that Jackie Robinson has been placed into the Lexington Legends Hall of Fame. A sign recognizing Robinson and his famous jersey number 42 now adorns the interior of the Applebee's Park along with the other eight members of the Hall of Fame.

The Legends return to Applebee's Park tonight for a three game series with Hickory. First pitch is set for 7:05pm. Tickets are still available. Call the box office for information at 859-422-RUNS (7867).
