Columbus, GA - The GreenJackets (13-1) recorded their fifth shutout of the season with a 1-0 win on Wednesday night in Columbus over the Catfish (7-7). Nester Rojas drove in the go-ahead run in the ninth and Clayton Tanner picked up the win in relief with three shutout innings pitched.

Both teams' chances were limited through out the night with pitchers from both staff pitching well. The GreenJackets finally broke through in the ninth with two outs in the frame. Matt Weston drew a two out walk then Ryan Rohlinger reached on a throwing error by the Catfish third baseman Cesar Suarez.

With runners on first and second and two outs, Rojas connected for an RBI single to right-center field to give Augusta a 1-0 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth.

Tanner started the ninth and issued a lead off walk before being lifted for closer Juan Trinidad. Trinidad pitched a perfect ninth setting all three batters he faced down in order to record his third save of the season.

Tanner (2-0) worked three innings and allowed just three hits while walking one and striking out two.

Henry Sosa started the game for Augusta and recorded the no decision working five shutout innings. The right-hander allowed just one hit, a walk and a season high six strikeouts.

The GreenJackets and Catfish will play game three of their four game series on Thursday night with Augusta sending right-hander Robert Grace (1-0, 0.00) to the hill. Columbus will send right-hander Heath Rollins (0-0, 5.23). Game time is at 7:00 p.m.

Game Notes:

The GreenJackets offense was held off the scoreboard for 14.2 consecutive innings before plating a run in the ninth inning.

Juan Trinidad is perfect in four innings pitched to start the season.

Tyler Graham extended his hit streak to 14 straight games with a base hit in the sixth inning.

Rojas has hit safely in four straight games with his RBI single in the ninth.

Augusta leads the league with five shutouts.
