LAKEWOOD, N.J. - The Lakewood BlueClaws Baseball Club has been named "Organization of the Year" in Ocean County by the Toms River/Ocean County Chamber of Commerce. They will be honored at a Gala event on Wednesday, May 16th at The View Restaurant at Eagle Ridge Golf Club.

"We're obviously thrilled and honored to be given this distinguished award," said BlueClaws General Manager Geoff Brown. "We'd like to thank the Toms River/Ocean County Chamber of Commerce for the honor, all the staff members of the BlueClaws whose hard work and dedication have made this achievement possible and of course the fans for their continued support in making BlueClaws baseball what it is today."

The Organization of the Year honors are bestowed on individuals and / or organizations that have shown community concern, and have demonstrated outstanding, unselfish service in single or multiple fields in the civic, social, cultural, legal, religious, educational, health, business or athletic life in the Ocean County area.

The Gala event begins with a cocktail hour at 6:30 and dinner follows at 7:30. Tickets are $150 per person, and are available by calling the Chamber office at 732- 349-0220.

Also honored that evening are Harvey York, Esq., who is honored with the "Joseph A. Citta Achievement Award," and Michael Ritacco is bestowed the "Distinguished Citizen of the Year Award." Kevin Williams of WOBM will serve as Master of Ceremonies.

The Lakewood BlueClaws return to FirstEnergy Park on Wednesday April 18th, for a six-game homestand against the Delmarva Shorebirds and Hagerstown Suns.

The BlueClaws have led the league in attendance in each year of existence, adding 448,310 fans in 2006. This season, the BlueClaws will become the fastest team in South Atlantic League and New Jersey baseball history to reach the 3 million fan attendance mark.
