SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Sand Gnats battled back from two 1-run deficits Wednesday night to win 5-4. The Gnats have now won three of their last four games.

Tim Stronach (1-2) pitched 5.0 innings and allowed 4 runs off of 5 hits on his way to his first win of the season. Matt Durkin finished off the game as he pitched the last 4 innings and did not allow a hit, striking out 7 Drive batters and earning his first career save.

On offense D.J. Wabick upped his average to .378 with a 3-for-4 performance. Josh Thole also contributed 3 hits as he reached base all four times he came to the plate and drove in 2 runs. All 10 hits by the Gnats were singles.

Gnats manager Tim Teufel was ejected in the 4th inning after Greenville center fielder Jason Place hit a deep fly ball that was initially ruled a foul ball and then changed to a solo homer after a discussion by the umpires. It was Place's second homer of the game. He now leads the league with 7.

Tomorrow is Thirsty Thursday with half-price beer and Cokes and $1 Papa John's pizza slices presented by Rock 106.1, Connect Savannah and Papa John's. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Left hander Todd Privett (0-1, 14.85 ERA) will take the hill for the Gnats while Jordan Craft (0-0, 13.50 ERA) will throw for the Drive.
