Lexington Legends News Release
Chris Wallace's two-run homer broke a 3-3 tie in the seventh inning, and the Lexington Legends went on to a 6-3 win over the Asheville Tourists Saturday night.
The Legends took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third, but the Tourists struck back with three quick runs in the bottom of the fourth. With two outs and the bases empty, Bryce Massanari singled, Kyle Parker homered, and Cory Dickerson followed with another home run to put the Tourists in front 3-1.
Before Wallace's homer, the Legends had scored twice in the seventh on sacrifice flies by Jiovanni Mier and Adam Bailey, tying the game at 3-3. With Ben Orloff on at second, Wallace hit a drive over the left field wall for his 10th home run of the year. He has hit six homers against Asheville, and has driven in 15 runs in nine games against the Tourists.
Carlos Quevedo (4-1) worked the first seven innings to get the win. He struck out five and did not walk a batter. Quevedo hasn't issued a walk in his last 29 innings, going back to April 21. Asheville reliever Brad McAtee (0-4) took the loss. Alex Sogard pitched the last two innings for Lexington and picked up his fourth save.
The series is even at one win each, and resumes with a 2:05 p.m. game Sunday at McCormick Field.
