CHARLESTON, S.C. - Adam Duvall took sole possession of the league lead in home runs with a two-run 11th inning drive, as the Augusta GreenJackets defeated the Charleston RiverDogs, 3-1, in South Atlantic League action Saturday night in front of a crowd of 5,142 fans at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.

The GreenJackets evened the four-game series at a game apiece while improving to 17-26, while the RiverDogs fell to 20-23 in defeat.

Ehire Adrianza walked in front of Duvall, who launched a no-doubter off Charleston's Kelvin Perez (0-1) for his 12th round-tripper of the campaign.

Charleston scratched out a run off Augusta's Shawn Sanford to get on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the second. Kyle Roller was hit by a pitch, and eventually came around to score when Eduardo Sosa laced an opposite field single to left.

Jose A. Ramirez was tagged for six runs over four innings in a loss against Greenville his last time out, but the Charleston right-hander was on top of his game for most of this night. Ramirez allowed just two hits through the first five, setting down eleven in a row during one stretch.

The GreenJackets forged their first legitimate scoring threat in the fifth, loading the bases on three consecutive walks for Duvall. Ramirez did not allow Duvall to get the ball airborne, though, inducing a 6-4-3 double play to keep his slate clean and preserve the 1-0 advantage.

Drew Biery was able to get under a Ramirez fastball in the seventh, pumping his second homer of the year over the left-centerfield fence. Slade Heathcott nearly made a terrific leaping grab in front of the wall, but it barely evaded his glove and tied the game at 1-1.

Danny Burawa came on to relieve Ramirez out of the RiverDogs bullpen, and got a double play on his very first pitch to keep the tally square.

Ramirez was superb in lasting a season-best 6.1 innings, displaying the form which makes him the Yankees No. 24 prospect, according to Baseball America. The 21-year old Dominican permitted the one run, while scattering four hits and three walks and fanning five.

Sanford recorded his fourth straight outstanding start, yielding only the one run on six hits, fanning four.

Both bullpens were excellent as the score remained even into extra innings. The RiverDogs loaded the bases with one out in the tenth, but could not cash in against GreenJackets lefty Mario Rodriguez (1-4). Rodriguez was the loser last night, but displayed his mettle, getting a pair of groundouts to send the game onto the 11th.

In total, the RiverDogs went 3-for-20 with runners in scoring position, and stranded a season-high 14 runners.

Perez was summoned from the Charleston bullpen by Aaron Ledesma and struck out two as part of a 1-2-3 tenth. The righty reliever could not translate his success to the eleventh, however, as Augusta finally broke through to take a 3-1 lead it would not relinquish.

The GreenJackets used their sixth pitcher of the night to close out the victory in the bottom of the eleventh. Stephen Harrold breezed through the top of the RiverDogs order, notching his fourth save of the season.
