The West Virginia Power dropped an 11-6 final to the Lakewood BlueClaws on Saturday night at Appalachian Power Park. The BlueClaws scored four runs in the first and four in the sixth to create a lead the Power could not overcome.

Lakewood's four-run first came off West Virginia starter Zack Von Rosenberg. The right-hander allowed the first three batters to reach and surrendered four hits in the inning, including three doubles. West Virginia plated two runs in the bottom of the inning on a double by Justin Howard and trailed 4-2 after one.

Each team scored a run in their respective half of the fourth inning, and the Power cut into the deficit by one in the fifth on a run-scoring base hit by Howard to trail 5-4.

In the sixth, though, Lakewood added four runs against Power reliever Trent Stevenson. The first three batters again reached, this time to load the bases, and Alan Schoenberger tripled all three in. The BlueClaw infielder scored on a sacrifice fly to extend the Lakewood lead to five runs at 9-4.

Both clubs tallied a seventh inning run, and the Power scored once in the eighth to trail 10-6. West Virginia got back-to-back base hits by Andy Vasquez and Drew Maggi to trail 10-6. Lakewood capped the scoring with a run in the top of the ninth against Porfirio Lopez in his South Atlantic League debut.
