Augusta GreenJackets News Release

Charleston, SC - Adam Duvall's one-out, two-run home run in the top of the 11th inning provided all the scoring the Augusta GreenJackets would need in a 3-1 win over the Charleston RiverDogs on Saturday night. It was the second 11-inning win for the GreenJackets this week and it took Augusta's record in extras to 4-3.

With one out, Ehire Adrianza walked to set up Duvall, who cracked his league-leading 12th homer of the season and eighth in the last two weeks to put the GreenJackets out to their first lead of the night and the series at 3-1. Duvall's blast came off eventual losing pitcher Kelvin Perez (0-1). Stephen Harrold used just six pitches in the 11th inning to preserve the win for the GreenJackets.

The RiverDogs jumped out to an early lead off Shawn Sanford in the second inning on an RBI single by Eduardo Sosa. The GreenJackets evened things up when Drew Biery cracked a solo home run to lead off the seventh and knot the game at one. Biery's homer was the only hit the GreenJackets had from a leadoff batter in any inning, as Augusta put the leadoff man aboard just twice in the 11-inning contest.

Sanford and Charleston starter Jose Ramirez locked horns in a pitchers' duel. Sanford allowed a run on six hits in six innings, striking out four. Ramirez faced one over the minimum through five innings, eventually tossing 6.1 innings of one-run, four hit ball. He struck out five and walked the bases full in the sixth, but got out of trouble in that frame on one of the three double plays turned by the RiverDogs in the contest.

Stranded runners cost both teams as the GreenJackets left seven on with only seven hits in the game and only four prior to the 11th. Charleston stranded a whopping 14 runners and left the bases full twice. GreenJackets relievers Tom Vessella, Drew Bowlin and Mario Rodriguez all left inherited baserunners stranded to finish the inning they came in from the bullpen to pitch. Rodriguez (1-4) got the last two outs of the tenth to get the win as Charleston left the bases loaded in the frame.

The GreenJackets look to win two in a row on Sunday evening as they send Taylor Rogers (2-5, 2.58) to face Mikey O'Brien (2-2, 3.07). First pitch from Charleston comes at 5:05 with pregame coverage beginning at 4:50 on WRDW-AM 1630 and online at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com.

The GreenJackets return home to open a four-game series with the Savannah Sand Gnats on Wednesday May 25th as they close in on their one-millionth fan under Ripken Baseball ownership. That lucky fan will win a trip for four to Disneyworld, courtesy of Augusta Vascular Center. First pitch will come at 7:05 next Wednesday.

Single-game and Season Tickets are currently available by calling the GreenJackets front office at 706-922-WINS while further information can be found online at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com.
