Leading Rookie Scorer Sims Named to All-Star Squad

PORTLAND, ME - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Quirk Chevrolet, today announced that rookie forward DeShawn Sims has been named to participate in the 2011 NBA Development League All-Star Game. The 5th Annual NBA Development All-Star Game, presented by SonoSite, will take place on Saturday, February 19 on Center Court at the NBA All-Star Jam Session presented by adidas. The game will air live on NBA TV at 4 PM (ET).

Sims, 23, has led the Red Claws in scoring since joining the team the second week of the season. His 18.2 points per game currently ranks 7th overall in the league while his 8.3 rebounds per game ranks 11th overall. He leads all rookies in both categories.

"DeShawn Sims has been a terrific player for us from the first day he arrived," said Red Claws President and General Manager Jon Jennings. "He earned his way to the NBA D-League All-Star Game, and I am sure this is just the beginning of great things to come for him. DeShawn Sims is a player NBA teams are keeping a close eye on, and he is a leading candidate for the NBA D-League Rookie of the Year."
