Shane Edwards Named to All-Star Team

Rio Rancho, NM - The NBA Development League announced today that New Mexico Thunderbirds forward Shane Edwards has been named to the Western Conference All Star Team.
The fifth annual NBA Development All Star game presented by SonoSite will take place on Saturday, Feb. 19, on Center Court at the NBA All-Star Jam Session presented by adidas. The game will air live on NBA TV at 3 p.m. MT.
Edwards, who is in his second year with the Thunderbirds, is averaging a team best 18.6 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. He currently ranks fifth in the league in scoring and field goal percentage (57.4%). Edwards was named the NBA Development League Co-Performer of the Week for games played between Dec. 13 and Dec. 20.
"We are very excited that Shane Edwards will have the opportunity to go to Los Angeles and play against the best in the league at the 2011 NBA Development All Star Game," Thunderbirds head coach Darvin Ham said.
The Thunderbirds will be in action on Friday and Saturday against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, both games are at 7:30 p.m. at the Santa Ana Star Center. Friday will feature $1 hot dogs and $2 beers and Saturday fans can purchase an all you can eat wristband for just $10.
