Adrien & Shakur Earn All-Star Nods

MCALLEN, TEXAS - The defending NBA Development League champion Rio Grande Valley Vipers announced Thursday that center Jeff Adrien (6-7, 245, UConn) and point guard Mustafa Shakur (6-3, 190, Arizona) are Western Conference All-Stars in the 2011 NBA Development League All-Star Game, presented by SonoSite.

"We're excited and happy for all of our guys. Any individual honor is always a reflection of team success, and they're done a great job of making us a better team," Vipers head coach Chris Finch said.

The NBA Development League Player of the Month for January, Adrien is averaging 17.4 points, 11.0 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in 19 games (13 starts). He has 14 double-doubles, one behind the league leaders. Since joining the Vipers, he is averaging 19.6 points, 12.1 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 14 games (12 starts).

Shakur, who earned a GATORADE Call-Up to the Washington Wizards on January 22, averaged 16.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.9 steals in 23 games and starts. He will only be eligible to play in the game if he returns to the NBA Development League.
