Tri-City ValleyCats News Release

TROY, NY - The Tri-City ValleyCats used a four-run seventh inning to steal a 7-3 win from the Brooklyn Cyclones at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium on Thursday night.

Gilberto Celestino led the offensive charge with a go-ahead, two-out, two-run home run in the seventh inning.

Celestino's team-leading fifth blast of the year gave the ValleyCats a 4-3 lead, spurring three more late runs of insurance.

Alex McKenna remained hot at the plate with his second straight two-hit game.

Cody Deason started the game on the mound for Tri-City, giving up just one run in two innings.

After Austin Hansen pitched the next three innings, RJ Freure took over with two scoreless innings to earn the win for Tri-City.

Tim Hardy then closed out the game with a six-out save, his team-leading fourth of the year.

Now 19-14 on the season, the ValleyCats remain tied with the Lowell Spinners for first place in the Stedler Division.

The ValleyCats will now travel to Staten Island for three weekend games against the Yankees.

After an off-day on Monday, the ValleyCats will return home to open a six-game home stand, beginning with three games against the Auburn Doubledays.
