Ontario Reign News Release

LAS VEGAS, NV - The Ontario Reign (23-5-1-3), back-to-back Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets, lit the lamp late in the third period to beat the Las Vegas Wranglers (8-20-3-1) 3-1 at Orleans Arena on Saturday night.

After Cody Sol was sent to the penalty box for boarding and unsportsmanlike conduct, the Wranglers converted on the power play with a quick wristshot off the stick off Anthony Perdicaro. Chris Francis and Jeff May set up the play with a cross-ice pass to the Las Vegas center in the Reign zone for the only goal of the first period.

A scoreless second period saw 14 shots in favor of the Reign for a total of 33 shots against Las Vegas goaltender Mitch O'Keefe in the first 40 minutes of play.

Matt Register put a shot on goal for the Reign at the 17:12 mark of the third period and a quick deflection from Everett Sheen tied the game 1-1. Moments later, Reign defenseman Cody Sol sailed a shot through traffic to be redirected past O'Keefe by Mario Lamoureux to give the Reign a 2-1 lead.

The Wranglers pulled O'Keefe with 31 seconds left in regulation and J.T. Barnett scored his first professional goal on the empty net with 17 seconds on the clock. The final tally gave the Reign a 3-1 victory over the Wranglers.

Michael Hutchinson earned the win with 15 saves on 16 shots; O'Keefe took the loss with 39 stops on 41 shots.
