SF Bulls Battle Back to Earn Point in 3-2 Overtime Loss to Ontario

ONTARIO, Calif. - The San Francisco Bulls battled back to earn a point in a 3-2 overtime loss against the Ontario Reign, Sunday at Citizens Business Bank Arena. Berkley Scott scored his first goal as a member of the Bulls to force overtime.

Luke Judson opened the scoring, slamming a rebound past Ontario goalie Michael Hutchinson 8:44 into the first period for his third goal of the season. Collin Bowman and Dale Mitchell, returning from an injury sustained against Stockton last Saturday, had the assists. With 23 seconds remaining in the period, Ontario's Mario Lamoureux evened the score on a controversial goal. The Bulls went on to finish the first frame with a 12-10 shots on goal advantage.

The two teams battled to a standstill in the middle period despite a combined 20 shots over the second 20 minutes. Tyler Beskorowany and Hutchinson made 10 saves apiece to preserve the 1-1 tie heading in to the third period. The Bulls had 22 shots to Ontario's 20 after 40 minutes of play.

Reign defenseman Cody Sol broke the tie 6:15 in to the final period of regulation before Scott banged home a Scott Langdon rebound with 3:58 remaining in regular time. The tying strike was Scott's second tally of the season. Both sides managed 11 shots on goal for a San Francisco 33-31 edge after 60 minutes of play.

At 3:24 of overtime, Gasper Kopitar took a Matt White feed to beat Beskorowany for the game-winner. Ontario out-shot San Francisco 3-0 in overtime for a total of 34 to the Bulls 33 in the game.

The Bulls head home for a three-game set against the Alaska Aces, their first visit to the Cow Palace this season. The rematch of the opening round of last season's Kelly Cup playoffs kicks off Thursday evening with a 7:30 p.m. puck drop.
