Richmond Flying Squirrels News Release

Former VCU standout and current Milwaukee Bucks forward Larry Sanders will be on hand as the Richmond Flying Squirrels take on the Reading Phillies on Tuesday night at The Diamond. Due to a light malfunction at The Diamond on Monday night, the Squirrels and R-Phils will complete a suspended game beginning at 6:15 PM. Gates will open at 6 PM, and Sanders will be signing autographs on the main concourse from approximately 6:15 PM to 6:45 PM. Time permitting, Sanders will also throw out a ceremonial first pitch prior to game two of the series, which will begin approximately 30 minutes following the completion of the suspended game.

Sanders, a 6-11, 235-pound forward, was the 15th overall selection in the 2010 NBA Draft. He played three seasons for VCU, and averaged 10.3 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.7 blocked shots per game while shooting 52.0 percent from the field over his college career. He was named the Colonial Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore and a junior and helped the Rams compile a 75-27 record during his three years at VCU, including two regular season CAA titles and one postseason CAA crown.

As a junior, Sanders averaged career highs in points (14.4), rebounds (9.1) and field goal percentage (52.0) as he ranked among the top five in the CAA in those three categories, along with blocks (2.6 per game).

Fans holding tickets from Monday night's suspended game may redeem them at The Diamond for tickets for Tuesday's game. Tickets are available for purchase by calling (804) 359-FUNN (3866), visiting the ticket office at The Diamond or by logging on to SquirrelsBaseball.com.
