Thirteen Hits Enough for Thunder

Trenton, NJ- Homeruns from Dan Brewer and Brandon Laird powered the Thunder to a 4-3 win over New Britain on Tuesday afternoon at Waterfront Park. The Thunder (62-41) pounded 13 hits giving RHP Adam Warren enough support for his third consecutive victory. Trenton will try for the sweep over the Rock Cats (30-74) on Wednesday afternoon at 12:05 pm.

Warren (3-0) tossed six and 1/3 innings and allowed three runs on five hits with three strikeouts. The right-hander Warren has won all three starts he has made since being promoted from High-A Tampa. Dan Brewer gave the Thunder a 3-1 lead with a two-run homerun in the bottom of the third inning. Two batters latter Laird added his league-leading 23rd homerun of the year for a 4-1 Thunder edge.

The Rock Cats cut the lead to 4-3 with two runs off Warren in the seventh inning. Erik Lis singled in a run to end the day for Warren. J.B Cox entered with Lis on base and allowed a double to pinch-hitter Juan Portes to bring the Rock Cats to within one run. Wilkin de la Rosa pitched a scoreless eighth inning and RHP Ryan Pope tossed a scoreless ninth for his seventh save of the season.
