June 4, 2022 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Bismarck Larks News Release
The Bismarck Larks took the series with a Saturday night victory, 11-7, over the Rochester Honkers.
Fans at Bismarck Municipal Ballpark, Home of Dakota Community Bank and Trust Field saw the most runs scored in the series, on Harry Potter Night.
The bats were wild tonight for the Larks, finishing with a total of twelve hits on the evening. Every batter for the Larks reached base tonight. Both teams combined for 27 hits and 18 runs. The Larks saw five players finish with an RBI, including four from catcher Garrett Macias (CSU-San Bernandino) in the bottom of the second. Macias delivered a grand slam and the Fetzer Electric Play of the Game. Macias finished a triple shy of the cycle after hitting a double in the first, and a single in the third.
For the Honkers at the plate, shortstop Theo Hardy (San Jose St.) went 4-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored. Hardy was one of six hitters to finish with an RBI for the Honkers.
On the mound for the Larks, the bullpen came in clutch after delivering a perfect, scoreless five consecutive innings. Andrew Paten (Columbia College) dealt two scoreless innings, striking out three, and giving up only one hit. Justin Goldstein (Middle Tennessee St.) and Edwin Colon (NW Oklahoma St.) both pitched a full inning, allowing no runs, combining for two strikeouts and allowing only two hits.
The Larks were up two runs heading into the bottom of the eighth, but after an RBI single from Ryan Curran (Montevallo), and a hit by pitch to Zen Hiatt (Montevallo) that drove in a run, the Larks went into the top of the ninth with a comfortable four run lead.
Pitcher Nate Boyle (Drury) came into the top of the ninth in a no-save situation but with all the confidence in the world. Boyle gave up no runs, and struck out a batter with the Metro Area Ambulance Fastest Pitch of the Game at 90 mph.
The Larks are back in action tomorrow at 5:35 PM for a two-game home series against the Duluth Huskies before hitting the road on June 8 to take on St. Cloud. Catch the game on NWLTV.
