Lancers' Poolman, Besse Selected in 2013 NHL Draft

Ralston, Neb. - The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) are pleased to announce that defenseman Tucker Poolman and forward Grant Besse were selected this evening as part of the 2013 National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft. Both players were claimed in the fifth round with Poolman chosen 127th overall by the Winnipeg Jets while Besse was claimed 147th overall by the Anaheim Ducks.

Committed to the University of North Dakota, Poolman registered 14 goals, 14 assists and 28 points while appearing in all 64 games last season. The native of East Grand Forks, Minnesota paced all USHL defensemen with 12 power play goals last year and finished second among all blueliners in total goals. The 6'2", 200-pound Poolman is set to return to the Lancers in the Fall.

Meanwhile, Besse began last season at Benilde-St. Margaret's Prep School before joining Omaha in mid-March. In just seven games with the Lancers, the Plymouth, Minnesota native recorded four goals. Committed to the University of Wisconsin, Besse will join the Badgers for the upcoming 2013-14 campaign.
