Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

Waterloo, Iowa-Minutes after claiming goaltender Eamon McAdam, the New York Islanders added a potent offensive weapon by selecting the USHL's leading point-producer, Taylor Cammarata, on Sunday during the NHL Draft in New Jersey.

Cammarata went to the Islanders during the third round with the 76th overall pick after McAdam had been snagged at number 70.

"Taylor has proved people wrong who have doubted him because of his size over and over again. He sees the game in remarkable ways and has consistently put up tremendous point totals," said Black Hawks Head Coach P.K. O'Handley.

Cammarata's next immediate step will be to the University of Minnesota in the fall. The 5-7, 156-pound forward was USA Hockey's Junior Player of the Year in 2012/13, as well as winning the United States Hockey League's Forward and Player of the Year Awards. Cammarata led the USHL in goals (38) and points (93). At +39, his plus/minus rating ranked fourth. Cammarata's performance was a continuation of his 2011/12 effort, during which he led the Black Hawks in both regular and postseason scoring en route to being named the league's Rookie of the Year. NHL Central Scouting had ranked him 193rd among North American skaters entering the 2013 Draft.

This draft marks just the third time one NHL franchise has chosen two Waterloo Black Hawks in the same year and the first since the New York Rangers selected Peter Ferraro and Chris Ferraro in 1992.
