
LaMonte Wade, Jr. joins Kernels on MLB rehab assignment

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that OF LaMonte Wade, Jr. will join the Kernels on an MLB rehab assignment. Brian Maloney, Senior Manager of Minor League Operations, announced the moves.
Wade played for the Kernels during the 2015 and 2016 season, playing a combined 60 games. In 2016, he hit .280 (58-207) with 4 HR and 27 RBI. Wade was called up to the Twins twice this season on June 27th and again on July 6th, but was placed on the 10-day injured list on July 7th with a right thumb dislocation. He was selected by the Twins in the 9th round of the 2015 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Maryland.
Wade will be active and available for tonight's 6:35 PM game at Quad Cities and does not count against the Kernels active roster. With today's transaction, the Kernels roster remains at the MWL maximum of 25 active players, with five players currently on the injured list and one MLB rehab assignment.
The Kernels continue a 10-game road trip tonight at Quad Cities at 6:35 PM. They return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Saturday, August 24th to host Peoria at 6:35 PM.
