Lakewood Police Independent Guild Fundraiser Update
December 9, 2009 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Seattle Thunderbirds News Release
The Seattle Thunderbirds are currently having a 12-hour sale to raise funds for the Lakewood Police Independent Guild. The Thunderbirds are encouraging their fans to purchase tickets to the game against the Tri-City Americans, on Friday, December 11, on the T-Birds website on today between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.
As of 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9, the team hasraised over $7,000 for the Guild. The T-Birds are donating 100% of all ticket revenue during this 12-hour window to the Lakewood Police Independent Guild to support the children of the four slain Lakewood Police Officers.
"If we keep this ticket sales pace up for the remaining eight hours of the sale, we could be writing a check to the Guild for over $20,000," said T-Birds Director of Public & Media Relations Ian Henry. "We greatly appreciate all our fans that have stepped up so far to support the Guild. We hope they share this fundraiser with their family and friends and help us write as big a check as possible for the Guild."
There is a Lakewood Police banner at the top of theT-Birds website ( www.seattlethunderbirds.com ) that fans can click on in the next eight hours to purchase tickets to the game on Friday.
The T-Birds have partnered with the City of Kent, the Kent Police Department, ShoWare Center and radio stations Q-Country 102.9 FM (KNBQ) and Funky Monkey 104.9 FM (KFNK) to make this fundraiser a reality.
